Applicants must meet the following requirements:

Air Force ROTC is a college program offered at more than 1,100 colleges and universities across the U.S. that prepares students to become Air Force Officers while earning their college degrees. Air Force ROTC cadets participate in weekly physical fitness training, leadership laboratories, and classroom instruction. After completion of the program, all students are required to serve a minimum of 4 years in the Air Force. Air Force ROTC is more than just a way to pay for college– it’s a challenge, a head start on a lifetime of success…within the Air Force and beyond.
Type 7 – Pays college tuition up to the equivalent of a public school’s in‐state rate. A Type 7 scholarship may be converted to a 3‐year Type 2 scholarship if the student wishes to attend an out of state or private school.

Air Force ROTC evaluates students using the “whole person” concept. This means that along with academic performance, candidates will be evaluated on their physical fitness performance and leadership experience.

Additionally, HSSP applicants are encouraged to apply and pursue technical and foreign language majors. Approximately 80% of scholarships are awarded to students pursuing a technical degree.
Students who do not receive a scholarship can still join AFROTC. In‐college scholarships are offered each year to non‐scholarship cadets already in the program. Contact the AFROTC detachment at your university for more information.
